The Inner Harbor was once an assortment of defunct warehouses, then in the late seventies efforts to revive the area began. Some favorite attractions to visit in the area include, Harborplace and the Gallery which offers shopping and dining, Fort McHenry, the Maryland Science Center, the National Aquarium and Port Discovery Children’s Museum. Another area popular among the locals is Patterson Park, nicknamed, “Baltimore’s Best Backyard.” The park includes a recreation center, an ice skating rink, a swimming pool and several architectural elements.

Johns Hopkins University’s main campus, school of medicine, and hospital are all located in Baltimore. The university and the school of medicine are consistently ranked as the best by numerous authorities. Johns Hopkins Hospital has been ranked as the overall top hospital in the United States since 1992 by U.S. News and World Report. They are considered to provide leading care in several specialties.

Oriole Park at Camden Yards, home of the Baltimore Orioles, is considered to be Major League Baseball’s most beautiful park. The Orioles have won the World Series three times and six of their players have been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, including Cal Ripken Jr. Baltimore also has an NFL team, the Baltimore Ravens who play in M&T Bank Stadium adjacent to Camden Yards.
